Other Fees & Considerations

  • The $25.00 Execution Fee is paid to the federal agent who witnesses the signature on your application to cover the costs of executing the passport application, such as administering the oath, verifying the applicant’s identity, and transmitting the applications. It’s not required for renewals.
  • You can pay an additional $20.66 for overnight delivery via USPS Express Mail. This may shave a day or two off of your wait time.
  • The $60 expediting fee is charged by the government and is paid if you expedite your passport via the mail, in a Regional Passport Agency, or through a Registered Passport Expediter.
  • You can add a passport card for $30 more ($15 if under the age of 16). The card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air.
  • There is a $150 file search fee if you’re unable to provide proof of citizenship.
  • There is a Fee Calculator on the U.S. Department of State website. They also list a lot of additional information.
